I think the overall message of the book is standing up for what you think is right, and not allowing anyone to influence your actions or rights. This message is very important to understand and use in your daily life. Palmer had to 'take a stand' in order to show Beans and Mutto that they were wrong. They didn't have any power over Palmer's actions at all. Not everybody has to be a Wringer, not everybody has to hate pigeons. Standing up for what you think is right is important, otherwise you will never have a say in anything. You need to trust your actions in order to have them believe in what is right, that you shall not, will not, be a Wringer.

  2. It is about taking a stand and doing what you want to do.Like in the book palmer said "no." to Farquar. Also he quit the gang and just left. Palmer was the first one to take a stand and didn't really participate. On pg.178 Palmer said"no"to Farquar.-Zach B. 6L

This book is about taking a stand, and a boy with a strange life. Here are some of the things that are strange. One he has to wring pigeons(pg 1). And about taking a stand he did it all the time in the book. He did it to Farquar when he said no. And he did it at the pigeon day thing. Thats what the books about.

  4. I think that the overall theme of the book is that you need to keep trust in your actions. As in to understand that not everyone needs to be a wringer when they turn ten. You also need to know what is right or you will no be a wringer like Arianna said.

I think the theme of the book is a dark book because the people of the town like to wring and shoot pigeons pg. 76. Palmer on the other hand does not want to become a wringer pg.3. Then he keeps a pigeon in his room pg. 70.

I think the overall message is that, you don't have to do anything you don't want to.It's true that you could do a tradtion. But no one can force you. It's about a boy stuck between death of a pet and friends.

  7. I think the theme of this book is standing up for your self. I think this because Palmer said no to farquar about the tradition of wringing when you turn 10. I think that palmer standing up to every one is really good.
